RE:

Development of a Multiyear Technology Plan

St. John Fisher College is continuing to address components of the 2012-2017 Strategic Plan.  While there is specific reference to fundamental components of our technology under Goal 5, many of the other goals require an up-to-date, robust, and flexible technology environment to succeed.  Therefore, I am announcing today the undertaking of a planning effort to ensure that the technology environment at the college not only meets current needs, but also is positioned to effectively address future requirements.

The Multiyear Technology Plan, informed by all members of the college community, will provide recommendations of current and future state of the market technologies and best practices in higher education for the College to consider implementing over the next 3-5 years.  This will include technology trends in the following areas:

  • Teaching and Learning Environment Including Learning Spaces;
  • Business Information and Administrative Solutions;
  • Connectivity and Network Infrastructure;
  • Technology Services and Delivery Models;
  • Compliance & Information Security;
  • Sustainability of Environmental Resources; and
  • IT Governance and Planning.

In addition, the Plan will provide:

  • Recommended roadmap sequencing initiatives
  • A Spending Plan with order of magnitude cost estimates for initiatives.
  • Projected physical and human resources to support the initiatives.

To facilitate this planning effort, St. John Fisher College has engaged an experienced higher education consulting firm, Collegiate Project Services.  During the next few months, Collegiate Project Services staff members will be on-campus to conduct interviews, carry-out focus group sessions, and administer other data gathering exercises involving students, academic, and administrative personnel. We look forward to working with Collegiate Project Services in this important effort as we seek to provide enabling technology resources now and into the future.

Your cooperation and support will be greatly appreciated.
